My Inspiration - Alexander Wang Spring 2010

Today I went for the TKO - total knockout for my non boxing fans. Trained by A.Wang's Spring 2010 collection, I chicly knocked them out of their shoes at work today. Fridays in the office are always very casual and today was no exception.

Note: I'm going to try to start keeping the word count down on the blog, because when I'm reading other blogs I always hate a lot of words and wish for more pictures - the whole acting my shoe size and not my age totally comes into play here. Deal with it!

Any who (watch your word count, watch your count...), I'm going thrift hunting at a new shop that just opened up down the street from my house. And, you'll have to be very, very, quiet, we're hunting GPa cardigans - my all time favorites. Figured since I'm in the retired city of Fort Myers, FL that shouldn't be too hard to find; here's hoping.

Wearing my favorite Zara vest that I first introduced here. The versatility of this piece is just beyond words. More posts are sure to follow because I don't believe in wearing something only once or twice. I LUST (more intense than Love) every piece in my well curated wardrobe that they work double time - cost per wear or CPW is the best logic to use when shopping. Dividing the total cost of something by the amount of times you think you will wear it, gives you the ultimate cost per wear (final retail price in my eyes). For me, this vest started at $40 and now costs me $8. It's value is depreciating faster than the housing market.There's go the word count. Shit! Ok...stay focused...paired the vest with my Marc by Marc Jacobs sweatshirt, Levi 510 Super Skinny jeans, and Aldo lace up oxfords. TGIF!!!

75, partly sunny, with mild winds?!?! I'll take it....

The promise land has been spotted. Although I complain about the constant heat and about being tired of explaining what a summer cardigan is, I was rather thrilled to learn that today was going to be a rather nice day and I could leave my Marc Jacobs sweater coat in the house. And apparently this weekend is going to be even nicer - like 80's! Get excited!!!

The paisley made a fun back drop for today's photo session, which reminds me, I really need to get a friend who is interested in photography to help take my pictures. Too many times did I almost fall and bust my ass on the tile of the bathroom this morning trying to take pictures before the self timer went off. Not cute, at all.

Wearing Zara button up, Levi 510 Super Skinny jeans, and Narrative leather moccasins. These are definitely one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own. I scored them from Bloomies during my FIT days - I used to work there, and boy do I miss the discount. Their handmade with Italian leather and feel like jersey sheets, soft and molded to my feet. It's a relationship I've enjoyed since last summer and I think it's getting serious. We keep communal ice cream in the refrigerator at work and after lunch a sundae sounded just about right for me and the Fat Man inside of me. Boy was he a happy camper.

Meet Me Halfway...

This is probably one of my favorite songs of 2009, and don't even get me started on that AMAZING video. It was totally EPIC (stay tuned for digression). A lot of people are beginning to use this word to describe something that is beyond amazing, beyond superb, beyond perfect, beyond timeless, etc. At first I thought, are you joking, I'm never going to use the word Epic, but here I am, 10 posts in and I just used the word, Epic! Damn, I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks (and back to our regularly scheduled post).

Attended a meeting today with some top executives (including an industry legend) for our upcoming Summer season and decided to pull out my secret weapon, the bow tie! Man, you wouldn't believe how many compliments I get every time I wear one. I only own 2 (for the moment anyway) but do plan to acquire more as the year progresses and I remember to focus on things that I need and not always what I want. Yes, bow ties are a need for me and my wardrobe; it's my thing, let it go!

Wearing a silk paisley bow tie, H&M button up, Target tweed vest, Levi 510 Super Skinny jeans, and suede Zara lace up oxfords. Had frozen hot chocolate today for the first time. Umm, the jury is still out on that experience. I can't believe it's already Wednesday. Ciao.

A Rose By Any Other Name...

My mom would always tell me to layer up to stay warm - I wonder if this is what she had in mind. Another cool day in FL and another chance to layer, layer, layer. I bought this vintage rose pin while out thrift exploring with my cousin during the holiday vacay. I rose petaled my layers beginning with my Banana Republic basic crewneck tee - best tee in the world! Uniqlo cardigan, Open Ceremony for Uniqlo zipper cardigan over top of that, all pulled together under my H&M vest; paired with my eternal loves, 510 Super Skinny jeans.

The pin is heavy with a tarnished finish, a reminder of lapels pinched but not forgotten. Because a rose by any other name would still smell so sweet. Don't mind me, just a little Tuesday rambling. Ciao.

Baby It's Cold Out...

Arrived in so called Sunnyside Florida on Saturday and it was 35 degrees out! Definitely not complaining because constant 85+ degree weather can really wear on your spirits when getting dressed in the morning - have you ever tried to wear a cardigan and have to constantly explain that it's a summer cardigan as you sweat off every ounce of confidence you had when you first put it on? Well I do. So, whenever I get a chance to raise from the dead my winter loves, I'm all over it.


First day back to work in 3 weeks - I was on maternity leave (Holiday Vacay). Wearing Banana Republic t-shirt, Levi 510 Super Skinny jeans, White House Black Market Blazer, and Nicole Farhi velvet scarf, underneath my favorite Marc Jacobs oversized sweater. Oh how I love the "Where does he think he is" looks I get from the locals. A constant reminder, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.


This is my favorite Marc Jacobs distressed leather tote that I scored from the NYC Special Items store in the Village. For $45, how could I resist? New wayfarers from Urban Outfitters.

In Transition...

As I transition into the new me, I decided to bare the hustle and bustle of, dare I say it, THE MALL, and venture out with friends from college the day after Christmas. Figured I'd catch a few deals on some seasonal staples; boy was that a BIG MISTAKE!

1. I hate the mall - yes, there is a plethora of stores in one location but everyone is essentially looking for the same thing, and the mom's and their baby carriages take up too much of the isles when I shopping for white button ups (not hating on babies, but I'm just saying).

2. Waited in a line of traffic for an hour just to go into the mall - shoulda known there was going to be trouble.

3. Every store had a line that you wouldn't believe. The racks were bare (hello, where is the recession??!!), no sales associates in sight, and definitely no enticing deals.


The most delicious part about my trip was California Pizza Kitchen. This was by far one of the best pizzas I've had (the fat man that resides inside of me will you tell you that we've enjoyed plenty of pizza in our day). Barbeque Chicken Pizza, so decadent my mouth waters just thinking about it (Fat Man rears his ugly head again).




I'm in DC with family for the holidays so I had to layer up - think I did a pretty nice job. What do you think? Wearing an Old Navy Vest that I had since I was in middle school. Was very much relieved when my mom told me she kept it because she didn't know if I still wanted - Good job, Mama. Good job! The blazer is from White House Black Market's Fall collection. I practically live in this blazer. It's extremely soft and has a tailored shape you wouldn't believe. And, being that I wear the same jeans everyday, my Levi 510 Super Skinnies, make their first of many debuts on the blog. The shoes are from Aldo, and pretty much are in heavy rotation.


I did manage to score a white button up from Banana Republic ($30, but I just realized (7 days later) the lovely sales associate left the sensor on the sleeve of the shirt. Thinking happy thoughts, thinking happy thoughts...), and I was able to score another pair (the exact same pair I'm wearing here) of Levi 510 Super Skinnies from Nordstrom. On sale for $35!
